World Animal Protection is committed to fundraising safely during COVID-19
When COVID-19 shutdown our country in March 2020, our on the ground, face-to-face fundraising operations stopped. As our economies across Canada begin to open up, we are working with our partners Globalfaces Direct and GiveBridge to begin to fundraising safely in key markets across the country to raise monthly and one-time donations to help animals who are experiencing pain and suffering – some even more so since COVID-19 began.
Globalfaces Direct:
In accordance with Health Canada, public health and government guidelines, Globalfaces Direct has adjusted their face-to-face fundraising to align with the “new normal” so fundraisers can secure urgent, necessary donations for animals while keeping both you and them safe from COVID-19.
Here’s what’s new:
- Fundraisers will be required to wear personal protective gear. Fundraisers will be equipped with face masks and will wear them when proper distancing isn’t possible, or at the donor’s request.
- Fundraisers will be equipped with custom COVID-19 related gear that clearly speaks to the necessity of maintaining a two-metre distance during interactions.
- Each fundraiser will be equipped with sanitizer and wipes.
- For the duration of fundraising conversations, social distancing best practices as described by Health Canada will be followed.
- There is a new donor confirmation process. The signature portion of the donation process has been replaced with a verbal confirmation from our call center. This involves the Globalfaces Direct call center calling the donor to confirm their intent to give. This call will either take place through the fundraiser’s device (via speakerphone) or through the donor’s personal phone, depending on the donor’s preferences. This maintains social distancing measures while upholding donor privacy to the highest standards.
The following phone number will be displayed on the Globalfaces Direct canvasser badge: 1 866 478 0678. For any calls you receive about setting up your donation, it will come from this number: 1 833 793 1469.
GiveBridge:
In August 2020, World Animal Protection began canvassing in public spaces with our valued partner GiveBridge. We are committed to donor and fundraiser safety in accordance with health guidelines, while conducting essential fundraising activities during these unprecedented times.
Here’s what’s new:
GiveBridge has adapted their donor acquisition procedures based on international face to face fundraising best practices and local health authority recommendations, including Health Canada. Under the “new normal”, donors can sign up with highly trained professional fundraisers while remaining safe during one-on-one interactions outdoors. The entire interaction is touchless and is conducted from the recommended physical distance, with zero touchpoints required. All fundraisers are equipped with hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and face masks. They follow strict hand washing, sanitization and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols while fundraising and are diligently trained on safety protocols.
All fundraisers wear photo ID badges, a branded lanyard, may wear a branded vest or t-shirt and they do not accept cash donations. Rather, they will ask members of the community to consider making a direct and ongoing donation through monthly credit card or bank payments.
