What JBS doesn’t tell you about factory farming
Blog
From animal suffering to environmental harm, the impacts of factory farming are hidden by design. Now, as JBS plans its next move, pressure is building worldwide to hold it accountable.
When you buy meat, you’re not told if it comes from a factory farm.
That’s on purpose.
Companies like JBS know that if you saw the suffering their factory farming causes animals, you wouldn’t buy their meat.
And that would cost them money, so they hide it.
Meet JBS
JBS isn’t just another meat company. It’s one of the largest in the world. It dictates how millions of animals are raised every single day.
Here in Canada, it handles nearly half of all beef production. Its products are sold by major retailers across the country and backed by the same banks many Canadians use every day.
Animals in factory farms like JBS’s endure terrible suffering. Land and ecosystems are destroyed to make room for expansion. The climate is pushed further in the wrong direction. And communities are left dealing with the fallout, polluted water, lost land and fewer ways to support themselves.
JBS inflicts all of this harm and destruction for one reason: to make more money, no matter the cost.

Why this moment matters
On April 30, JBS meets with investors.
This is where they plan what comes next – how to grow, how to expand and how to keep this system moving.
But this time, they won’t be able to do it quietly.
Across the world, we, and others in this movement, are raising our voices about JBS. Calling them out. Exposing what they’re doing. Making sure more people see the truth. Because that’s how change starts. When people know, pressure builds. We’re making noise, and we’re not letting up.
There is a better way
This isn’t about ending farming. It’s about ending factory farming and replacing it with something better – high welfare farming. Farming that treats animals with care. That future exists, but companies like JBS are standing in the way of it.
