For years, Lizzie’s world was a metal cage.
She lived on a factory farm, confined to a space barely larger than her own body. The bars dug into her skin, leaving her with painful sores. She couldn’t turn around. She couldn’t lie down comfortably.
Lizzie had one purpose there: to give birth to litter after litter of piglets, babies who were taken away from her almost immediately. She was never given the chance to nurture them, to protect them or even to see them grow.
This was her life. Day after day. Year after year.

Until everything changed.
A second chance at life
When Lizzie was finally rescued, she was in rough shape.
Her body was worn out. Her spirit was too. There were moments when her caregivers weren’t sure if she’d survive.
But with expert care and time to heal, Lizzie began to recover.
Today, she lives safely at a sanctuary supported by World Animal Protection. She can roam freely, stretch out in the sun and wallow in the mud, just like pigs are meant to do.
She can finally be herself.
